Guwahati, Aug 15: Ahead of the 80th Independence Day, formations of the Indian Army and Assam Rifles under Spear Corps organised a series of patriotic, community-oriented and environmental initiatives across Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Manipur, Mizoram and Nagaland.

The programmes were aimed at spreading the spirit of patriotism while strengthening the bond between the Armed Forces and local communities across the Northeast.
The initiatives were organised around the themes of 150 years of Vande Mataram, Har Ghar Tiranga and Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam, bringing together national pride, community participation and environmental responsibility.
As part of the celebrations, Army and Assam Rifles personnel engaged with local communities and encouraged people to participate in activities commemorating the nation's Independence and its rich national heritage.
The observance of 150 years of Vande Mataram added a special cultural and patriotic dimension to the programmes, highlighting the enduring significance of the song in India's freedom struggle and national consciousness.
The Har Ghar Tiranga campaign encouraged citizens to proudly display the national flag and participate in Independence Day celebrations, reinforcing the message of unity and collective national pride.
Environmental activities under Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam highlighted the importance of protecting nature and promoting sustainable living. The initiative sought to connect the spirit of national service with environmental stewardship and community responsibility.
The programmes across the five northeastern states also reflected the Army's continuing efforts to engage with people beyond its core security responsibilities. Community-focused initiatives provide opportunities for interaction with residents, particularly in remote and border areas, while promoting awareness, participation and national integration.
Through the initiatives, Spear Corps reaffirmed its commitment to celebrating India's freedom alongside the people of the Northeast and to encouraging values of patriotism, social responsibility, environmental conservation and unity.
The celebrations underscored the message that Independence Day is not only a commemoration of the country's freedom but also an opportunity for citizens and institutions to contribute collectively towards a stronger, united and sustainable India.
