Dimapur, Oct 23: A six-day internship training programme in electrical and welding trades was organised for students of the Nagaland Tool Room and Training Centre (NTTC), Dimapur, under the aegis of Spear Corps, with a focus on enhancing technical skills and promoting hands-on learning.
The programme was conducted under the Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana (PMKVY), supporting the objectives of the Skill India Mission and the vision of Atmanirbhar Bharat by equipping young people with practical, industry-relevant competencies.
During the training, subject-matter experts guided the participating students through key aspects of electrical work and welding, helping them strengthen their technical understanding and improve their practical proficiency. The internship provided an opportunity for students to gain exposure to real-world applications of their chosen trades and develop skills relevant to future employment.
The emphasis on experiential learning enabled participants to complement their classroom knowledge with practical training. Such initiatives play an important role in preparing young people for technical careers, enhancing employability and encouraging self-reliance through skill development.
The programme also highlighted the role of collaboration between the armed forces and civilian institutions in promoting education, vocational training and youth empowerment. By facilitating access to technical expertise and practical exposure, the initiative sought to strengthen civil-military fusion and create meaningful opportunities for local youth.
The training reflects Spear Corps’ continued focus on community-oriented initiatives aimed at capacity-building and human resource development in the Northeast.
Through such skill-based programmes, the armed forces and educational institutions seek to encourage young people to acquire practical competencies, pursue employment opportunities and contribute to the region’s socio-economic development.
