Sports knows no age: JKMGA marks National Sports Day

Jammu, Aug 30: The spirit of sports and fitness came alive at RS Sports Academy, Miran Sahib, as the Jammu & Kashmir Master Games Association (JKMGA) celebrated National Sports Day with enthusiasm and energy.

A total of 45 players, ranging from 15 to 70 years of age, participated in the event, sending out a strong message that age is no barrier to staying active, healthy and connected with sports.
JKMGA President, former Indian Handball captain and retired SSP J&K Police, Ranjit Singh, paid rich tribute to legendary hockey player Major Dhyan Chand, recalling his immense contribution to Indian hockey and his unparalleled dedication to the sport. He said Dhyan Chand’s achievements continue to inspire generations and urged youngsters to follow his values of discipline, commitment and sportsmanship.
Ranjit Singh said that in today’s fast-paced society, connecting with sports is more important than ever for maintaining physical and mental balance. He appealed to people of all age groups to come forward and make sports a regular part of their lives.
The programme was organized in collaboration with RS Sports Academy, with JKMGA expressing its sincere gratitude to Director Shri Rameshwar Singh Manhas for his valuable support.
Badminton was organized by Shri Ramesh Sharma, Basketball by Shri Kuljeet Jamwal and Pickleball by Shri Parval Sharma. The event was also graced by Shri Ashok Kumar, Sanjay Puri, Shri Surjit Chowdhary and Smt. Mamta Bajaj.
JKMGA Secretary General and international masters player Neete Kour said the Association would continue organizing such sporting programmes to promote fitness, healthy living and a strong sporting culture in Jammu.
The celebration concluded with refreshments for all participants. The Association thanked every player for their enthusiastic participation and called upon the community to embrace the message of National Sports Day — stay active, stay healthy and stay connected with sports.
