A two-day Block-Level Inter-Sports Meet, organized by Nehru Yuva Kendra (NYK) under the Ministry of Youth Affairs, Government of India, successfully concluded at Salfia Educational Institute in Russu, Budgam. The event was held in collaboration with Club Friends Youth and received an enthusiastic response from sports enthusiasts, NYK volunteers, and the local youth.
The event was attended by several distinguished personalities, including the Principal of Salfia Educational Institute, the Chairman of Salfia Educational, and a senior NYK officer, who dedicated their valuable time to the event.
The sports meet featured a range of competitions, including Volleyball, Kabaddi, Kho-Kho, Tug of War, and a 100-meter race. Teams from various blocks participated, showcasing their talents and sportsmanship. The atmosphere was vibrant, as the event celebrated the athletic spirit and teamwork among the youth.
During the event, the Principal of Salfia Educational Institute addressed the attendees, highlighting the dangers of drug abuse and its severe impact on both physical and mental health. He explained the broad definition of drug abuse, as recognized by public health bodies, and emphasized the medical and social problems caused by substance abuse. His informative speech educated students on how drugs infiltrate the valley, reach the youth, and the long-term consequences for those addicted, particularly in relation to their future lives.
The sports meet also featured some of the most talented youth in the region, with impressive performances that garnered widespread appreciation. Awards were presented to the outstanding athletes in recognition of their achievements, further motivating the youth to pursue their passion for sports.
