Srinagar, Jan 22: Amid forecasts of heavy rain and snowfall in parts of Jammu and Kashmir, Deputy Commissioner Srinagar Akshay Labroo on Thursday asserted that the district administration has put all necessary arrangements in place to handle the situation.
Interacting with media persons on the sidelines of an official event, Labroo, said the administration is fully geared up to respond to any weather-related challenges. “We are prepared in every respect. We are just waiting for snowfall—let it come,” he remarked.
The Meteorological Department has issued an alert for heavy rain and snowfall, stating that two Western Disturbances are likely to impact Jammu and Kashmir in quick succession. The first system is expected to affect the region between January 22 and 24, while the second is likely to influence weather conditions from the night of January 26 till the forenoon of January 28.
According to the forecast, the initial Western Disturbance may be particularly strong, with maximum impact anticipated on January 23. As a result, widespread light to moderate rainfall and snowfall is expected across many areas of the Union Territory.
Meanwhile, the Deputy Commissioner also noted that all preparations are in place to celebrate Republic Day on January 26, adding that the administration is ready to mark the occasion with full patriotic fervour and enthusiasm.
