Amid rapid surge in Covid-19 cases, passengers who are planning to fly out of Srinagar airport will have to live with restrictions.
Director, Airport Authority of India (AAI), Srinagar airport, Kuldeep Singh said the entry to the airport will be allowed three hours before their flight departure, part of the measures to curb the spread of COVID-19 infection.
The restricted entry follows in view of some of the passengers entering the airport seven to eight hours before the flight departure time which leads to an increase in the crowd at the aerodrome.
Passengers are requested to please come to the airport only up to three hours before flight departure time,
He said the entry to the airport shall be given only up to three hours before flight from Thursday.
“The time of entry to the airport is maximum three hours before flight departure. This is necessary to control the congestion at the airport because we want to reduce the chance of infection,” the director said.
Singh asked the passengers to cooperate with the security staff in maintaining the access control at the airport. He said some passengers were entering the airport seven to eight hours before the time of their flight which increases the crowd at the airport and also increases the risk of infection.
It was another bleak day for Jammu and Kashmir on Thursday which recorded five fatalities due to Covid-19 with a steep spike in daily cases.
Officials said 1966 new cases were reported in the union territory in past 24 hours with 1077 cases in Kashmir and 889 cases in Jammu.
Five more patients who had contracted the deadly virus died in past 24 hours with two new deaths in Jammu division and three in Kashmir.
