Srinagar DC reviews Bank credit performance

Srinagar, Mar 30: A District Level Review Committee/District Consultative Committee (DLRC/DCC) meeting was held today under the chairmanship of Deputy Commissioner Srinagar, Akshay Labroo, at the DC Office Complex to review the credit performance of banks and sponsoring departments in implementing priority sector schemes for the financial year 2025-26.

The meeting was attended by Chief Planning Officer Fayaz Ahmad Dar, LDO RBI Amandeep Singh, DDM NABARD Purnima Kakroo, Lead District Manager Nelofer Jan, Deputy Director Employment Shubi Tabasum, other district officers, cluster heads of J&K Bank, and representatives of banks and financial institutions operating in Srinagar.
The DC conducted a detailed sector-wise review of banks’ performance against key credit and monetary parameters, including implementation of priority sector government schemes such as Mission YUVA, PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana, and the Holistic Agriculture Development Programme (HADP). Achievements under priority and non-priority sector lending as per the Annual Credit Plan were also reviewed.
Labroo urged banks and sponsoring agencies to focus on achieving priority sector lending targets, enhance ease of access to banking facilities for consumers, and strengthen financial inclusion through proper handholding of beneficiaries. He emphasized coordination between banks and sponsoring agencies to ensure smooth implementation of self-employment schemes and establishment of income-generating units.
It was informed that banks in Srinagar have disbursed Rs 7,736 crore to 6,472 beneficiaries under various schemes, achieving 157% of the target for the quarter ending December 2025. Deposits of Rs 39,258.30 crore and advances of Rs 26,765.89 crore were also reported.
During the meeting, the Deputy Commissioner launched the Potential Linked Credit Plan for District Srinagar for 2026-27, providing a roadmap for sector-wise credit planning aligned with the district’s developmental priorities.
