Deputy Commissioner Srinagar Akshay Labroo on Saturday reviewed the implementation of key agriculture schemes in the district and pressed concerned departments and banks to speed up processing, approvals and credit delivery under farm support programmes.
During a review meeting held at the DC Office Complex, the Deputy Commissioner sought detailed updates on applications received, processed and sanctioned under the Competitiveness Improvement of Agriculture and Allied Sectors Project and ongoing initiatives under the Holistic Agriculture Development Programme.
Officials were asked to account for achievements recorded so far, including progress in issuing seed, fertiliser and pesticide licences to agricultural entrepreneurs. The DC also reviewed enrolment figures under the Daksh Kisan programme, establishment of units on the ground and the pace of credit linkage across allied sectors.
Officials were instructed to avoid procedural delays and ensure applications move faster from scrutiny to sanction.
Banks were also nudged to improve loan approvals, particularly for agriculture-linked units, as delays in credit were flagged as a major hurdle for beneficiaries.
The Deputy Commissioner stressed the need for better coordination between departments and financial institutions to ensure schemes translate into real support for farmers rather than remain confined to files.
The review comes amid mounting concern among farmers and self-employment seekers over delays in loan approvals, subsidy processing and implementation of farm schemes.
