District Legal Services Authority (DLSA), Srinagar in collaboration with Tehsil Legal Services Committee Srinagar observed National Legal Services Day 2025 by organizing an awareness programme aimed at spreading legal literacy and highlighting the importance of free legal aid for the underprivileged sections of society at District Legal Services Authority, District Court Srinagar.

The programme was held under the chairmanship of Principal District & Sessions Judge, Srinagar, Tasleem Arief and under the supervision of Chief Judicial Magistrate/ Chairman TLSC Srinagar, Aadil Mushtaq and Sub-Judge/Secretary, DLSA Srinagar, Sajad Ur Rehman.
The theme of National Legal Services Day 2025 focused on “Access to Justice for All through Legal Awareness and Empowerment.”
In his address, Aadil Mushtaq highlighted the importance of legal awareness in ensuring access to justice for all and emphasized the role of legal services institutions in safeguarding the rights of marginalized communities. He also urged lawyers and legal aid counsels to continue their efforts in providing effective legal assistance to those in need.
Sajad Ur Rehman, in his remarks, underscored the significance of observing National Legal Services Day as a reaffirmation of the commitment towards the constitutional goal of equal justice for every citizen.
At the outset, Deputy Chief Legal Aid Defence Counsel, elaborated on the objective and significance of observing National Legal Services Day. She highlighted that the day serves as a reminder of the legal fraternity’s collective responsibility to ensure that justice reaches every section of society, particularly the poor and marginalized. She further stressed the importance of empowering citizens through awareness of their legal rights and the mechanisms available for seeking justice under the legal services framework.
Panel Lawyer, DLSA Srinagar, Advocate Naveed Gul, also addressed the gathering and shed light on the importance of free legal aid and legal awareness in strengthening the justice delivery system. He explained how DLSA, through its various initiatives, continues to provide legal assistance to those who cannot afford legal representation. He also emphasized the need for continuous outreach, community engagement, and collaboration among lawyers, paralegal volunteers, and institutions to promote access to justice for all.
On the occasion, certificates of appreciation were distributed among Panel Lawyers, Legal Aid Defence Counsels, and Para Legal Volunteers in recognition of their dedicated services.
