Srinagar police NDPS crackdown 2025

Srinagar Police on Wednesday released consolidated data highlighting major achievements under the NDPS Act during the year 2025, reflecting an intensified crackdown on drug trafficking and abuse across the district.

According to official figures covering the period from January 1 to December 29, 2025, a total of 172 NDPS cases were registered in Srinagar. These included 84 cases involving small quantity, 66 medium quantity cases and 22 cases of commercial quantity. Police said 291 persons were arrested in connection with these cases during the year.
The data revealed large-scale recoveries of narcotic substances, including 1.473 kilograms of heroin, 9.110 kilograms of brown sugar, 20.583 kilograms of charas and 71.506 kilograms of poppy straw, bung and cannabis. Police also seized 1.950 kilograms of crystal meth and similar synthetic substances.
In addition, officials said 23,767 psychotropic tablets and capsules, 89 injectable vials, 130.143 kilograms of ganja and 799 bottles of psychotropic syrup including codeine-based formulations were recovered during various operations.
Police further said cash amounting to Rs 2,93,890 was seized during NDPS investigations. As part of financial disruption measures, 208 bank accounts were frozen, and Rs 25,62,081 in cash was seized.
Significant action was also taken against properties acquired through drug trafficking. Police attached nine movable properties valued at approximately Rs 0.311 crore and 29 immovable properties valued at around Rs 40.27 crore. The total market valuation of attached properties stood at Rs 40.58 crore.
Officials, as per the news agency Kashmir News Trust said 58 vehicles used in narcotics-related offences were seized during the year. Additionally, 46 drug peddlers were booked under the PIT NDPS Act as part of preventive detention measures.
Police said the figures reflect a sustained and aggressive strategy aimed at dismantling drug networks, targeting both traffickers and their financial assets, and safeguarding society from the menace of narcotics.
