Teliamura, , Jan 12: In a unique outreach initiative aimed at inspiring young minds and raising awareness about the Assam Rifles, students from NEIDO and local residents spent an engaging day with an Assam Rifles Battalion at Teliamura on January 12, 2026. The programme, titled “A Day with Company Commander,” provided participants with a first-hand experience of the battalion’s operations, training, and community engagement.
The event began with an informative lecture detailing the rich legacy, achievements, and contributions of the Assam Rifles in nation-building and border security. Students and locals learned about the battalion’s multifaceted role, including disaster response, civic action, and community development along India’s northeastern frontiers.
Following the lecture, participants were taken on an interactive tour of a bee-keeping facility maintained within the garrison. Here, they gained practical knowledge of beekeeping techniques, honey production, and the role of such initiatives in promoting sustainable livelihoods in border areas.
The programme also included a demonstration at the Driving Training Simulator, where students observed and engaged in exercises designed to hone vehicle-handling skills under challenging conditions, reflecting the practical aspects of training undertaken by the Assam Rifles.
Officers emphasized the importance of discipline, teamwork, and dedication in both military and civilian pursuits, encouraging participants to develop leadership qualities and a sense of responsibility towards society. The initiative fostered mutual understanding, giving young participants a closer perspective on the role of the armed forces in safeguarding the nation while promoting community welfare.
The day concluded with interactive sessions where students shared their experiences and insights, expressing enthusiasm for future opportunities to engage with security forces and participate in similar educational programmes.
This initiative is part of Assam Rifles’ ongoing efforts to strengthen civil-military relations, create awareness about their operational and humanitarian roles, and inspire youth to contribute meaningfully to society.
