Kohima, Sep 26: The Assam Rifles is conducting a Seema Darshan Tour for 20 students and two teachers of Government Higher Secondary School, Rusoma village in Kohima, providing them an opportunity to experience the country’s border areas, military heritage and national security environment.

The tour, being held from September 19 to 28, was flagged off by Maj Gen H S Mavi, IGAR (North).
As part of the ongoing tour, the students have visited Tenga, Shergaon and Tawang, gaining first-hand exposure to the region’s diverse landscape, heritage and strategic importance.
The itinerary included visits to the Bum La Pass, Sangetsar Tso and the historic Tawang Monastery. The students also witnessed a live firing demonstration of the Bofors gun, offering them an insight into military equipment and the role of the Armed Forces in safeguarding the nation.
The Seema Darshan initiative is aimed at exposing young students to border regions and helping them understand their geographical, cultural and strategic significance. It also provides an opportunity for students to interact with the region beyond the classroom and develop greater awareness of the country’s rich heritage and national security.
The visit to Tawang and adjoining areas further enabled the participants to experience the cultural traditions and unique environment of the border region.
The Assam Rifles said such initiatives are intended to foster awareness among youth about India’s borders, heritage and the responsibilities associated with national security.
The students and teachers are scheduled to return after completing the tour on September 28. The initiative is expected to leave participants with a deeper appreciation of the country’s border areas, cultural diversity and the role of security forces in protecting the nation.
