Srinagar, Aug 27: Senior IPS officer Sujit Kumar has assumed charge as Inspector General of Police, Kashmir Zone, following a major reshuffle in the senior police hierarchy of Jammu and Kashmir.

Kumar, a 2007-batch AGMUT cadre officer, has taken charge of Kashmir Zone after being transferred from his previous assignment as IGP Security, J&K. He succeeds Bhim Sen Tuti, who has been posted as IGP Headquarters at Police Headquarters.

The government ordered the reshuffle with immediate effect, resulting in changes to several key operational and administrative assignments involving senior IPS and JKPS officers.

Vivek Gupta has been appointed IGP Security, J&K, while Tejinder Singh has been posted as IGP Jammu Zone.

The reorganisation comes amid ongoing security, counter-insurgency and law-and-order challenges across Jammu and Kashmir.
