
Commissioner Secretary Social Welfare, Sarmad Hafeez, today addressed a commemorative event at the Convention Centre marking the 5th anniversary of the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan (NMBA). The programme was organised by the Directorate of Social Welfare, Jammu.
In his address, Sarmad Hafeez stressed the importance of sustained awareness against substance abuse and highlighted the shared responsibility of government departments, civil society, educational institutions and youth groups in supporting the mission of a drug-free society. He praised the Directorate and partner agencies for their outreach through awareness drives, counselling and rehabilitation.
Director Social Welfare Ranjeet Singh emphasised the role of community participation and youth engagement in combating drug addiction and urged continued coordinated efforts.
The event featured cultural performances, awareness skits, a signature campaign and testimonies from rehabilitated individuals. Participants also took a pledge to work towards a drug-free Jammu.
Special Secretary Krishan Lal, Deputy Director Raman Kumar, NGO representatives, students and members of the public attended the programme.
