TB Mukt Bharat Abhiyan: DC Srinagar reviews progress towards TB-Free status

Deputy Commissioner Srinagar, Akshay Labroo, chaired a meeting of the District TB Control Society to review the progress under the TB Mukt Bharat Abhiyan and assess efforts aimed at achieving a Tuberculosis-Free Srinagar. The meeting was held at the DC Office Complex.

The DC conducted a zone-wise and block-wise review of key performance indicators, including TB notification rates, early detection, treatment adherence, and the implementation of the Ni-Kshay Mitra initiative, which supports TB patients to improve treatment outcomes.
Labroo was briefed on the availability and utilization of diagnostic equipment, screening processes, and treatment facilities across all medical zones and blocks in the district. Emphasizing coordinated efforts and community engagement, the DC called for intensified screening drives, especially among vulnerable populations.
He underscored the importance of optimal resource utilization to ensure timely diagnosis and effective treatment. Special emphasis was placed on home visits by ASHA workers to provide patient support and boost recovery rates.
While acknowledging the ongoing progress, Labroo stressed the need for further intensification of efforts to achieve a TB-Free Srinagar in alignment with national health goals. He assured full administrative support to the District TB Control Society to strengthen testing and screening efforts.
The meeting was attended by Chief Planning Officer Fayaz Ahmad Dar, Chief Medical Officer Dr. Tahir Sajad, Zonal and Block Medical Officers, and Medical Superintendents from SKIMS Soura, SMHS, JVC Bemina, JLNM Hospital, Gousia Hospital, CD Hospital, and other concerned stakeholders.
