Srinagar, August 24: The body of a teenage boy who went missing in Nallah Sindh in Ganderbal on Sunday has been recovered after an extensive two-day search operation, officials said.

The deceased has been identified as Mohsin Ahmad Lone, son of Mukhtar Ahmad Lone, a resident of Bamloora and a student of Qamaria Model Higher Secondary School, Saloora.

Officials said the body was recovered from Nallah Sindh opposite Qamariya Ground near Degree College Ganderbal.

The search operation continued for the second consecutive day and involved teams from the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) from Battalion Headquarters Srinagar, Ganderbal and Gund, along with police personnel, 24 Rashtriya Rifles and local volunteers.

The boy had reportedly gone missing from the water body near Qamaria Park on Sunday, following which a large-scale search and rescue operation was launched.

After the recovery, the body was handed over to the family following completion of medico-legal formalities.
