
Rajouri Admin XI clinches victory in district cricket tournament
Rajouri, Nov 23: In the ongoing Dr Raj Kumar Thapa Memorial District-Level Cricket Tournament, Rajouri Administration XI registered an impressive victory over CEO XI, further energising the spirit of sportsmanship in the district.
The tournament, organised by Principal Boys Higher Secondary School Muslim Wani, has drawn enthusiastic participation from teams representing all zones of the Education Department.
The 6th match of the tournament was played today, with Prof. Saleem Wani gracing the occasion as the Chief Guest. After winning the toss, Administration Rajouri XI opted to bowl first. CEO XI posted a competitive target of 140 runs in 12 overs. In response, Administration Rajouri XI displayed remarkable coordination and chased down the target within 10 overs.
Dr Gopal Sharma, whose stellar knock of 66 runs anchored the chase, was declared the Man of the Match.
Pertinently, Deputy Commissioner, Abhishek Sharma has extended crucial support to the school by releasing funds from the united grant for levelling and beautification of the school ground. The initiative has made the venue fully functional, drawing appreciation from the Principal, civil society members and the youth. They thanked the DC for providing constructive avenues that help steer young people away from the menace of drugs.
Addressing the gathering, Chief Guest Prof. Saleem Wani lauded the organising committee headed by the School Principal for successfully hosting the tournament and promoting sports culture in the district.
The commentators for the match were Vikrant Sharma, Awais Ganai and Vickey Mahajan, who kept the players and audience motivated. Physical Education Lecturer Aamir Ahmed, Teacher Gulzar Ahmed along with several officials of the Education Department, played a vital role in the smooth conduct of the event.
