A three-day international conference on “NEP-2020 Analytics and Bhartiya Gyan Sampada: A Pragmatic Perspective” jointly organised by the Central University of Kashmir (CUKashmir), Ajeenkya D Y Patil University, and Bharatiya Shikshan Mandal commenced on Sunday in blended mode.

The inaugural session was graced by Shri B. R. Shankaranand, Akhil Bhartiya Sanghtan Mantri, Bharatiya Shikshan Mandal, and Prof. Anil Sahastrabuddhe, Chairman of NETF, NAAC, and NBA. Eminent speakers included Prof. Kishore G. Kulkarni (Metropolitan State University, USA), Col. (Prof.) Rajendrakumar Anayath, Prof. Shriram Chauthaiwale (NCERT), and Prof. Shailendra K. Deolankar (Government of Maharashtra).
In his keynote address, Prof. A. Ravinder Nath, Vice Chancellor of CUKashmir, highlighted the transformative vision of NEP 2020 in shaping a learner-centric education ecosystem. He emphasised its four core pillars — equitable and inclusive education, multidisciplinary learning, flexible entry and exit options, and promotion of digital education. Categorising students as self-motivated, average, and passive learners, he stressed that NEP 2020 aims to bridge these learning gaps and transform universities into centres of excellence, aligning with the vision of Viksit Bharat.
Conference conveners Dr. Haribhau R. Bhapkar and Dr. Vijay Kulkarni said the event aims to provide a platform for academicians, researchers, policymakers, and educationists to deliberate on NEP 2020 and the integration of Indian Knowledge Systems (IKS) into contemporary curricula.
Dr. Rakesh Kumar Jain, Vice Chancellor of Ajeenkya DY Patil University, said innovation remains the institution’s core ethos and noted that NEP 2020’s multidisciplinary approach empowers students to pursue broad-based education with depth.
Prof. Anil Sahastrabuddhe underlined the modern relevance of IKS and advocated for internships in traditional arts, sciences, and philosophies to deepen students’ appreciation of India’s cultural heritage. He emphasised values such as dharma (righteousness), karma (action), and ahimsa (non-violence) for holistic growth.
Prof. Shailendra K. Deolankar shared insights on Maharashtra’s pragmatic implementation of NEP 2020 to achieve the Viksit Bharat@47 vision.
Shri Shankaranand called for reimagining teaching as a noble profession that nurtures both knowledge and values. Highlighting the essence of Indianness and cultural heritage, he envisioned India’s emergence as Vishwaguru — a global leader in knowledge and values — within the next 10 to 15 years through sincere collective efforts.
The conference will continue over the next two days with deliberations, panel discussions, and presentations aimed at shaping the future of Indian higher education
