In order to quell rebellion by the disgruntled party leaders in Jammu and Kashmir, BJP on Monday appointed senior leaders to election committees.
BJP president J P Nadda appointed former J&K BJP chief Sat Sharma as working president of the unit.
Two former Deputy Chief Ministers Nirmal Singh and Kavinder Gupta were appointed as chiefs of the campaign committee and election management committee, respectively.
Nadda also appointed Choudhary Sukhnandan as vice president of the election campaign committee.

The new appointments are part of the series of actions taken by the BJP’s high command as it faces headwinds in the Assembly election in Jammu and Kashmir.
“It is an effort to quell rebellion, and get the party to unite and fight the poll. These are historic polls and first after Article 370 abrogation and we have to focus on the polls,” a BJP leader said.
