Traffic Restrictions Announced in Srinagar for International Film Festival Opening

Srinagar, September 6: Traffic Police has announced diversions and restrictions in Srinagar for September 7 as the International Film Festival of Jammu and Kashmir is set to open at the Sher-i-Kashmir International Convention Centre (SKICC).

A large number of participants, guests and invitees are expected to attend the inauguration, prompting authorities to anticipate increased traffic towards SKICC after 4 PM.

As per the advisory, general traffic will not be permitted on Gupkar Road between 4 PM and 7 PM on September 7. The route will remain open only to invitees, participants, VVIPs and staff associated with the festival.

At Badyari Chowk and Brein Chowk, traffic heading towards SKICC and Nehru Park will also be restricted. Hotel guests and local residents will be allowed access, while other vehicles heading towards Nishat will be diverted through Gupkar and Hazratbal.

Traffic approaching from the Nishat and Harwan side will similarly be diverted towards Hazratbal.

The restrictions will remain in force from 4 PM to 7 PM or until the inauguration ceremony concludes.

The four-day festival will continue until September 10. Traffic Police is expected to issue a separate advisory for the closing ceremony scheduled for September 10 evening.
