Tragedy of our Society

The developed nations have always established institutions of marit, scholarship & hardwork

January 22, 2023 | Syed Mohsin Attiq

The results of state civil services have been declared by State Public Service Commission. Our dedicated and hardworking candidates have carved their respective success stories with zeal and zest. Infact hardwork & patience are corner stones of these success stories. No nation or individual can achieve the heights of progress without hardwork & dedication. The nation's who appreciate, recognise & encourage hardwork are leading us in the field of science and technology. The developed nations have always established institutions of marit, scholarship & hardwork. Hardwork & marit draws the very redlines between Harvard and an Asian University. The developing nations have to go a long way in creating ways & means to establish institutions of worth. The most disturbing attribute of our conservative societies is that we seldom encourage merit, scholarship & hardwork.
Firstly, we need to recognise, the hardworking sections of society. For example, the successful candidates of state civil services should be encouraged & appreciated at every forum. The tragedy with our nation is that we will proudly watch the illogical, immature & uncivilized posturing of our so called social media sensations but will never bother to encourage the real champions of hardwork & merit. We will proudly exploit a mentally retarded person on social media but will give cold response to these hardworking icons of scholarship. The trajectory of our tastes & preferences defies all democratic & civilized norms. We are manifesting the alarming attributes of a morally degraded society, which is on verge of collapse. The social media anchors have added fuel to the fire. The are taking our young generation towards dark corners of infertile mentality. Dream Eleven & other lottery offers have taken heavy toll of our young generation. They are apparantly having optical illusions day in day out to become overnight icons with no comparisons. The competitive spirit is driving our young generation towards creating YouTube channels with no viewership & content.Every person is not born to become YouTuber & actor. Those having talent in these fields deserve to be encouraged & appreciated. The irrational & illogical appetite for overnight fame has sucked blood from our social fabric.
Secondly, the most shocking & shameful attribute of our societies is that inspite of encouraging hardworking fellows, we indulge in mudslinging & slanderous language. I very well remember last year's episode when we indulged in disgraceful insult of a 12th class girl, who had topped the Science stream. Instead of appreciating her hardworking, we made villain of her personality. We can have innumerable disagreements with each other but we can not become uncivilized & cruel in our approach. We could have easily appreciated her hardwork on the one hand & expressed our disagreement with her dress code on the other. But we have taken oath to downgrade, disgrace & abuse others. Whenever we go through any social media platform, we can easily gauge the level of our decency & civility. We always adopt uncivilized approach to vent our frustration & anger.Instead of encouraging the hardworking & brilliant people, we are busy to exploit immature fellows. The shameful exploitation of these fellows have surpassed the Bollywood movies in their viewership. The viewership of their disgraceful content speaks volumes about benchmarks of our civility & glory. We should feel ashamed that the insult & disgrace have become hallmark of our society.
Last but not the least, my article should never be generalized but has the potential to trigger an alarming situation in our social circles. Let us hope that better sence will prevail upon us & will will reshape our priorities in the larger interest of our social fabric.
