
District Legal Services Authority Srinagar, in collaboration with the District Social Welfare Department Srinagar, organised a Training/Refresher Programme for Para Legal Volunteers (PLVs), Anganwadi Workers and ASHA Workers on the prevention of Child Marriage at the Conference Hall, ADR Centre, District Court Complex, Srinagar.
The programme was held under the aegis of the Jammu and Kashmir Legal Services Authority as part of the nationwide 100-day intensive awareness campaign “Bal Vivah Mukt Bharat” launched by the Ministry of Women and Child Development, with the objective of strengthening legal awareness, outreach and rapid preventive intervention mechanisms at the grassroots level in line with the ASHA (Awareness, Support, Help & Action) framework.
The programme featured informative sessions by the resource persons including Deputy Chief Legal Aid Defence Counsels, Panel Lawyer of DLSA Srinagar and Member of the ASHA Unit, who highlighted the legal framework, preventive strategies and the critical role of frontline workers in identifying, reporting and preventing instances of child marriage.
The programme concluded with a reaffirmation of the mission of the District Legal Services Authority Srinagar to ensure access to justice, promote legal literacy and safeguard the rights of children, particularly those belonging to vulnerable sections of society, through sustained awareness initiatives and collaborative community engagement.
