Tribute to Prof Rehman Rahi

Under the banner of Idarie Tehqeequ Adab Jammu and Kashmir a wonderful online condolence meeting was organized today in the memory of Prof. Rehman Rahi on it's official WhatsApp page. It was presided over by renowned poet and President of Cultural Trust Kupwara, Mr. Ayub Dilbar. The leading poets, writers, intellectuals, educationists and journalists from Kupwara district highlighted the literary services of late Rahi and described his death as a great loss for Kashmiri language and literature and the Kashmiri nation. While appreciating the achievements of the deceased and remembering his valuable services, the commitment was made that this rich heritage will be transferred to the coming generations through all available means so that the Kashmiri language is promoted at all levels. The speakers said that Late Rahi was a trendsetter of Kashmiri language who set a new trend in Kashmiri poetry after Mehjoor, Azad and Dina Nath. He had equal hold over other languages like English, Urdu and Kashmiri, besides he had a keen eye on Sanskrit, Punjabi and other local languages.
The program started with the recitation of some verses of Holy Quran, which was performed by Mr. Mushtaq Kausar, a long time member of the institution.
The welcome address was given by Farooq Shaheen, president of the institution, in which he warmly welcomed all the distinguished guests. The leading writers from Kupwara district expressed their thoughts about the late Rahi Sahib on this occasion and among those who paid their respect were Mr. Safdar Yusuf, President Bazm Adab Handwara, Mr. Sheikh Pervaiz District President JK Ret Teachers Forum Kupwara, Mr. Nasir Masroor Former General Secretary Cultural Trust Kupwara, Mr. Ashraf Chirag, Correspondent of Kashmir Uzma, Mr. Muhammad Akram Pardesi Vice President ITA Jammu and Kashmir, Mr. Rashid Manzoor President Shehjar Adab Lolab, Mr. Ghulam Hasan Ajmi General Secretary Cultural Trust Kupwara, Mr. Rashid Johar Senior Poet and litteratuer, Mr. Dar Khurshid Columnist Greater Kashmir

Vice President Kupwara Cultural Trust and Mr. Ayub Dilbar President Cultural Trust Kupwara Mr. Ayub Dilbar in his presidential speech paid tribute to the late Rahi Sahib in wonderful words and expressed the dire need to take full advantage of the legacy he left behind. Later prayers were offered for the peace of late Rahi's soul, which was lead by Mushtaq Kausar. The vote of thanks was presented by the second vice president of ITA Jammu and Kashmir Muhammad Akram Pardesi.
Ms. Rutba Qureshi's contribution in making this program attractive, beautifying and performing her duties as nizamat will be written in golden letters.
