Jammu, Jan 31: Security forces launched a search operation on Saturday after a drone, suspected to have originated from Pakistan, was sighted along the International Border (IB) in Jammu and Kashmir’s Samba district, officials said.
The drone briefly hovered over Indian territory near Chillyari village along the IB before returning towards Pakistan after a couple of minutes, officials added.
Following the sighting, police and security forces conducted an extensive search operation in Chillyari village and adjoining areas. Various locations along the IB were scanned to rule out the possibility of any airdrop of weapons, explosives, or narcotics.
Officials further said that a similar incident was reported on Friday, when a suspected Pakistani drone briefly hovered over Indian territory near Ratanpur village in the Ramgarh sector of Samba district before heading back across the border.
