Srinagar, Jan 28: Security forces on Wednesday recovered arms and ammunition dumped by terrorists in a forest area near the Line of Control in Kupwara district.

According to official sources, the search operation was launched by Jammu and Kashmir Police in coordination with Indian Army in the forest area of Rati Tari in sector Taad Karnah near the LoC.
“During the search, the joint team recovered four Chinese pistols, seven pistol magazines, three AK magazines, 308 rounds of AK 47 ammunition, and one sniper sight,” they said.
The recovery was made during a sustained search operation in the forest belt, which is considered a sensitive area due to its proximity to the Line of Control.
Officials said the seized arms and ammunition are suspected to have been concealed for use in militant activities.
Police said further investigation has been taken up to ascertain the source and intended use of the weapons.
Searches in the surrounding areas were also intensified to rule out the presence of any remaining arms or suspects.
