
Anantnag, June 15: Continuing its efforts to curb drug abuse and safeguard the youth from the menace of narcotics, Police in Anantnag detected two individuals allegedly under the influence of intoxicating substances during routine patrolling in separate areas of the district.
A police party from Police Station Anantnag, while conducting patrolling duties, found one individual identified as Rashid Shafi Bhat son of Mohammad Shafi Bhat resident of Monghall, Anantnag in a suspicious condition indicative of drug abuse. He was immediately taken to Government Medical College (GMC) Anantnag for medical examination, where his test report returned positive for drug consumption. Accordingly, cognizance of the matter has been taken under the relevant provisions of law.
In a separate incident, a police party from Police Post Janglatmandi, during routine patrolling, found Rameez Fayaz Malik son of Fayaz Ahmad Malik resident of Monghall, Anantnag in a state suggestive of intoxication. He was also shifted to GMC Anantnag for medical examination, where his test report was found positive. The matter has been diarised in the Daily Diary, and a docket has been forwarded to Police Station Anantnag for further necessary legal action.
J&K Police reiterates its commitment to combating drug abuse and urges citizens, particularly parents and community members, to remain vigilant and cooperate with police in identifying and reporting instances of substance abuse and drug trafficking.
