Udhampur, Oct 3: The two-day District Udhampur Wushu Championship concluded successfully today at Subhash Stadium, Udhampur, with enthusiastic participation of young Wushu players from across the district.

The championship witnessed participation from a large number of young athletes, who displayed impressive skills, discipline and competitive spirit throughout the event.
The closing ceremony was graced by Ashok Kumar, Former Director Sports, Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board (SMVDSB) and Vice President, Bharat Scouts and Guides J&K, as the Chief Guest.
Speaking on the occasion, Ashok Kumar appreciated the efforts of the District Udhampur Wushu Association in promoting Wushu and providing a platform for young sportspersons to showcase their talent. He also appreciated the contribution and guidance of Dronacharya Awardee Kuldeep Handoo towards the development and promotion of Wushu.
He urged parents to encourage their children to participate actively in sports, highlighting the important role of sports in keeping the younger generation healthy, disciplined and away from drug abuse. He stressed that regular participation in sports can contribute towards building a drug-free society.
Miss. Pavit JKAS District youth Officer My Bharat, and Tarseem kumar DYSSO Udhampur, were the Guests of Honour. They also encouraged the young athletes and appreciated the efforts being made to promote sports at the grassroots level in Udhampur.
Lt. Col. Sushant, Adv. Nikhilesh, Sonia Verma, Secretary, Wushu Association of Udhampur, Yashpal, National Judge, Ranjeet Verma, Karan Kumar, Pankaj Sallan, Babar, Kriti and Manvi were also present on the occasion.
