
Union Secretary, Department of School Education & Literacy (DoSEL), Sanjay Kumar, conducted extensive field visits to several schools across Srinagar and Budgam districts today. He was accompanied by J&K School Education Secretary Ram Niwas Sharma, DG School Education Kashmir Dr. G. N. Itoo, and other senior officials.
During the tour, the delegation inspected Higher Secondary School Rajbagh, SP Higher Secondary School MA Road Srinagar, Government Boys Middle School Yarikalan Chadoora, KGBV Lanilab, PM Shri Higher Secondary School Draggar Khansahab, and DIET Beerwah. They assessed classrooms, science laboratories—including Atal Tinkering Labs—and other infrastructure, interacting with students and faculty.
The Secretary appreciated students’ science and innovation models, inaugurated sports events, participated in plantation drives, and witnessed cultural performances. Students and teachers highlighted demands for digital libraries, upgraded laboratories, and improved infrastructure.
Emphasizing the importance of education, Sanjay Kumar called for 100 percent school attendance and urged that no student should drop out before completing higher secondary education. “After Class 12, students are mature enough to decide their career path—be it medicine, engineering, research, or government service. Education till Class 12 helps them realize their potential,” he said.
Later, the Union Secretary chaired a review meeting on the implementation of Vidya Samiksha Kendra (VSK) in J&K. VSK aims to strengthen data-driven governance in school education through real-time monitoring of student learning outcomes, teacher performance, school infrastructure, and digital learning initiatives. Sanjay Kumar stressed timely data collection, effective analysis, and proper utilization to improve learning outcomes
