Human psychology has some inherent attributes & characteristics, which don't bow down easily with external manipulation. These natural features of human psychology encompass both positive & negative manifestations. Criticism is one of the fundamental features of human psychology. It is indeed one of the credible benchmarks of an inclusive society. Criticism paves the way for intellectual innovations as well as scholarship. Knowledge societies always progress & prosper with timely intervention of criticism. But having said that criticism as a tool has also been misused greatly to dislodge, dismantle & downgraded others under various pretexts.

Firstly, criticism is one of the effective indicators of knowledge & scholarship. Every field of science & technology sustains & grows under shadow of criticism. The classical & neo-classical theories of Science were negated & modified through critical thinking & analysis. Critical analysis is the power of human beings to think out of box. You do not stick to old age & outdated perceptions, conceptions & ideas. These outdated ideas are redefined & reshaped in laboratories of criticism. But critical analysis should get substantiated through evidences, proof & practical experimentation. Any critique devoid of logic & reason do not stand test of times. It always disappears in thin air. Critical analysis is most powerful weapon to change social myths & phobias. There are innumerable myths still in our social setup, which need critical overhaul & analysis. Sometimes our belief system & psyche is full of illogical stuff, which only get neutralized through critical analysis. We should never resist any kind of positive criticism, which has the potential to redefine our ideas & approach in a pragmatic way. Not every criticism is aimed with ulterior motives & objectives. We should wholeheartedly welcome & encourage those discourses, which have criticism as one of the core principles .Critical analysis should be cultivated & encouraged in our academic circles to lay the edifice of a creative society with cosmopolitan outlook.
Secondly, coming to the other side of the picture, criticism has also been greatly misused all across social spectrum. Our society is full of evil minded masses, who spew venom & hatred through the channel of criticism. They play the card of criticism & try their level best to downgrade others by hook or crook. These fellows are in search of their prey in order to satisfy their inflated egos .I have come across innumerable people with responsible positions in my academic journey, who deliberately discourage creatively among their students by subjecting them to undue criticism. Coming to our social setup, three years back a girl from Srinagar topped 12th Class examination in Science stream. A reasonable section of people on social media made villain of her personality, because they apparently had difference of opinion vis a vis her way if wearing Hijab. Whole social media was up in arms against this girl, as she was the only girl left in our valley without wearing Hijab. While going through negative campaign of social media vis a vis this Science topper, I came to the conclusion that criticism is being fully misused in order to corner merit & scholarship. People were attacking her left, centre & right due to chronic jealous attitude, as they were not digesting her success. Yes, their were ways & means to council her regarding suitable dress code & all that. Social media is filled with countless examples, where we have participated in negative criticism without an iota of knowledge. We hurriedly jump into fray in order to corner others fir the sake of criticism.
Last but not the least, let us engage in positive criticism in the larger interest of knowledge & scholarship. Better late than never.
