
Imphal, April 18: The Assam Rifles under Spear Corps hosted a delegation of the Akhil Bhartiya Poorva Sainik Seva Parishad as part of the Moirang Utsav 2026 celebrations in Manipur, highlighting themes of national pride, remembrance, and unity.
The visiting veterans were taken on guided tours of historic and culturally significant landmarks, including Kangla Fort and the Raj Bhavan (Governor’s House). These visits were organised to give the delegation a closer understanding of Manipur’s rich heritage and its role in India’s freedom struggle and post-independence history.
The programme was coordinated under the initiative of Assam Rifles and Spear Corps, which have been actively engaged in fostering civil–military engagement and promoting cultural integration in the Northeast.
At Kangla Fort, the veterans were briefed on its historical significance as a seat of Manipur’s traditional administration and its symbolic importance in the state’s cultural identity. The visit to the Governor’s House further underscored the ceremonial and administrative heritage of the region.
Organisers stated that the Moirang Utsav celebrations aim to honour the spirit of “Nation First” by bringing together veterans, local communities, and institutions to celebrate shared history and national service.
The delegation appreciated the hospitality and arrangements made during the visit, expressing pride in being part of an event that reflects India’s unity in diversity and the enduring contribution of armed forces veterans to nation-building.
