Why should Selected Candidates Suffer ?

We are losing our precious time of youth due to this uncertainty as we are not able to focus on other important things in our life

August 04, 2022 | Haroon Ibn Rasheed

In the aftermath of Article 370 abrogation 50,000 jobs were promised to the youth of J&K by the govt, the practical results are quite far from their claims and promises. As part of the Employment Package under the Fast Track Recruitment Plan of the UT govt. two main recruitments of J&K Police Sub-Inspector (JKPSI) and Finance Accounts Assistant were notified. After all the toil and efforts of the hardworking candidates, the JKPSI recruitment was arbitrarily scrapped on the pretext of a scam being found in the recruitment process. This has raised apprehensions about the Finance Accounts Assistant (FAA) recruitment as well because the govt. has set up an enquiry committee to check for any sort of irregularities in FAA too.

Why this fact is ignored that JKPSI recruitment was two-tier recruitment and only one tier that is written examination was completely. On contrary, Finance Accounts Assistant exam was a single-tier examination and 90% of the process was completed. Even the documents verification was also done.
The exam notification for Finance Accounts Assistant was issued on 16th December 2020 in the name of "Fast Track Recruitment", yet it took two years for the administration to conduct the examination.
The examination was conducted at many centres with each centre being monitored under CCTV surveillance. This was the first time JKSSB conducted any exam with CCTV surveillance at each centre. An example of transparency as claimed by JKSSB was set. The whole administration and JKSSB (the recruitment agency of the govt) time and again assured the masses of transparency in the examination through their press bites and tweets. Finally after exam on 6th of March 2022 ,the results were declared on 22 April 2022 and the Document Verification was done upto 25th of may and subsequently after extension in date was completed up to 10 June. After that selected candidates were waiting for provisional selection list and final selection list. To our surprise through some media reports ,the candidates came to know that the UT administration has setup a committee to check any irregularities in the examination.
It was further anticipated that in case any irregularities are found in the process, the whole selection list might be scrapped on the same lines as that of JK Police Sub-Inspector recruitment. There have been certain baseless allegations against our toppers on the social media, in response to which our toppers have justified themselves in the media by showing all their academic records and keeping themselves available for any sort of inquiry.
Furthermore nothing suspicious has come in any form in public domain regarding our list. Not even a single newspaper has claimed any irregularities in our exam. This scenario is totally different from that of JKPSI one.
We are losing our precious time of youth due to this uncertainty as we are not able to focus on other important things in our life. We are on roads and hoping administration will assure us that no injustice will be done to we people. We are ready to cooperate in any sort of inquiry.
Our stand is clear, we are not against any inquiry of the list but due justice should be done with the meritorious candidates as well.
In case of any irregularities, instead of scrapping the selection list altogether, the list should be filtered, the culprits should be prosecuted and the meritorious candidates should be given their appointments in due time.
We have been demanding the same since past 21 days through peaceful protests at Press Club Jammu and Press Colony Srinagar but the administration has not paid any attention to our demands. Unfortunately the LG administration has adopted an inhuman and unjust scrap policy which is highly injustice to the hardworking selected candidates of Finance Accounts Assistant.
We have some direct questions to authorities:
Why should we suffer for the follies of others?
What about our 2 years of time that we had invested in this exam?
Will govt compensate us for our 2 youthful years?
What is our fault if there is corruption in the system which belongs to the administration and not the aspirants?
