Jammu, Oct 11: A woman went missing after being swept away by a flash flood triggered by heavy overnight rain in Raipur Domana area of Jammu district on Sunday morning, while her husband narrowly escaped.

According to eyewitnesses, the couple came out of their house after water levels suddenly surged behind their residence. The strong current shook their car (JK11 1546). As the husband attempted to move the vehicle to safety, the gushing water engulfed it.
His wife, who followed him to call him back, was caught in the powerful current. While the husband managed to cling to the side and survive, his wife was swept downstream.
Locals said heavy rainfall had caused a sudden rise in the water level of a nearby nallah, triggering the flash flood.
Residents launched a search operation using ropes, while police and State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) teams reached the spot and joined efforts to trace the missing woman.
The search operation was continuing at the time of filing this report.
