Women and the World

March 24, 2020 | Bazila Ayoub

On 8th of March we celebrate International women’s day to recognize the wonders women’s have done. This is the day when we acknowledge women and their work and give respect to them, but the question that always arises in my mind is are we getting that respect?
Due to orthodox mentality of our society who only want male child and not female as they consider them as burden and by this the ratio of females as compared to man is decreasing day by day.

Are Females Really a Burden for the Family and Society?

Till date women has played pivotal role of Mother, daughter, sister and wife so think if a women gets chance to work for the development of our country, she will definitely prove herself like Indranooyi, Indira Gandhi, Kalpana Chawla, Mother Theresa. How can we forget them and their contribution for the development of our country. Nobody has right to neglect the potential of women, providing them food, clothes and shelter is not enough for the betterment of women and for the development of country.
In India there are many social issues hindering women empowerment like Gender based violence, Abuse, Reproductive health inequities, rape, women trafficking, and economic discrimination. It’s important to fight them all and support women empowerment in a full-fledged manner. Take steps for empowering women and by this you are giving your contribution in the development of country.

For Most of the History Anonymous was a Women

Many of the barriers to women’s empowerment and equity lie ingrained in cultural norms. We all know what female foeticide is. Selective abortion of the female child is most common as in our society son is always considered as an asset and daughter a liability and financial burden. We should take strict actions against it. We always blame government for all this mess but it’s not only the government NGOs but our society also plays an important role in increasing this heinous crime. The problems women’s face do not end here, women who survive foeticide go through the next stage of hell. At very tender age women is shouldered with the responsibility of marriage and other such things. Women has to struggle through every phase of her life. This is not how nations are built.

Women’s are Builder and Moulder of Nations Destiny

Article 19, Article 15, Article 39 and many more of our constitution guarantee fundamental rights to each and every gender, if our Constitution is being so liberal towards the rights of every gender then who are we to decide the future of female gender.
Only framing of new laws is not sufficient even after so many provisions for female gender still women is being suppressed our so called society don’t allow women to lead their own way of life according to their wish without realising that if a women is able to manage house she then can manage office. it is must for the betterment of our country. Women empowerment means empowering women physically, mentally, socially, it means accepting and allowing women who are on the outside of the decision making process into it, empower her with education so that they can also raise their own status and by raising their status they can also take part in increasing the economy of the country leading to development. Give respect and equality to each gender as gender equality is the key to the success of millennium development goals.
It is also our duty to ensure the strict implementation of these laws, only then we can dream of real development. But all this is in vain if she is not vigilant about her rights, as its rightly said law will protect those who are vigilant about their rights. The only thing is that if you are not ready to fight for yourself why would any other person bother about you, your status and your rights.
So let this mentality go off that it’s only male who can develop a country. Everyone should understand that man are only the half power and it takes both man and women of country to take it forward to the path of development. In today’s fast moving modern era women should not be kept behind the walls. Everyone has right to live a happy and independent life.
Raise your own voice. Don’t rely on others to fight for you, be the women of indomitable will(say I have the potential to fight for myself). And let’s show the world that we women are not meant to be kept behind walls as development is just an word without us.
