Manipur, Aug 13: Assam Rifles marked International Youth Day 2026 under the theme “Different Contexts, Common Aspirations” with a series of youth engagement and community outreach initiatives across Manipur on August 12.

The initiatives focused on promoting sportsmanship, community participation, peace, harmony and constructive engagement among young people while building momentum towards the 80th Independence Day celebrations.
At Kaka Lower in Kamjong district, Assam Rifles organised a friendly volleyball match with local youth. The event encouraged teamwork, discipline, sportsmanship and healthy recreation, providing young participants with a positive platform to interact and engage through sport.
Around 30 villagers, including the village headman and pastor, attended the event and encouraged the youth to participate in constructive community activities. The match also served as an opportunity to strengthen interaction between the security forces and local residents.
In Khengjang, Chandel district, Assam Rifles conducted a community interaction involving around 95 village leaders, representatives and youth. Discussions centred on peace, communal harmony, security and the importance of collective efforts in maintaining a stable and supportive environment for the younger generation.
The outreach programme was further complemented by a Medical Assistance Camp, which provided healthcare support to around 80–90 local residents. The initiative aimed to address basic healthcare needs while strengthening community engagement.
The programmes reflected Assam Rifles’ focus on connecting with communities through activities that combine youth development, sports, healthcare and dialogue.
The International Youth Day initiatives also underscored the importance of providing young people with opportunities to develop confidence, leadership, teamwork and a sense of responsibility towards their communities.
Through such outreach programmes, Assam Rifles said it continues to encourage positive youth participation, community cooperation and peaceful coexistence across Manipur.
