The National Investigation Agency (NIA) on Wednesday arrested nine persons during two day raids in Kashmir in militancy conspiracy case.
An NIA spokesman said NIA today arrested 5 more accused persons Mohammad Haneef Chiralu r/o Srinagar; Hafeez R/o Budgam; Owais Dar R/o Pulwama; Mateen Bhat R/o Shopian and Arif Farooq Bhat R/o Srinagar in RC-29/2021/NIA/DLI.
The case pertains to hatching of conspiracy for undertaking violent militant acts in J&K and other major cities by cadres of Laskhar-e-Taiba (LeT), Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM), Hizb-ul-Mujahideen (HM), Al Badr and their affiliates.
NIA had registered the case as RC 29/2021/NIA/DLI) dated 10.10.2021 and initiated the investigation. NIA had earlier arrested 04 accused in the case on 12.10.2021.
“Today NIA conducted further searches at 2 locations in Srinagar and seized electronic devices and incriminating jehadi documents,” the NIA spokesman said.
He said, “preliminary investigation has revealed that 5 arrested accused persons are terror associates/OGWs of various proscribed terrorist organisations and have been instrumental in providing logistical support to terrorists and facilitating them in carrying out terror activities.”
Further investigation in the case continues, he said.
The NIA had yesterday conducted searches at multiple ;ocations in J&K and arrested 4 accused persons in J&K militancy Conspiracy Case ( RC-29/2021/NIA/DLI)
“NIA conducted searches at 16 locations in Srinagar, Pulwama and Shopian districts of J&K and arrested 04 accused namely i) Waseem Ahmed Sofi r/o Chattabal Srinagar; ii) Tariq Ahmed Dar r/o Shergarhi Srinagar iii) Bilal Ahmed Mir @ Bilal Fufu r/o Parimpora Srinagar and Tariq Ahmed Bafanda r/o Rajauri Kadal Srinagar in RC-29/2021/NIA/DLI,” the NIA spokesman said.
