Our Prophet was a mercy to all human beings, regardless of their religious, racial, cultural or ethnic background.
Emotionalism is the state of mind which brings changes to react every action in an emotional way without caring about the results. Every person has the ability to regulate and express the emotions with good understanding and respond them skillfully but reacting to any action in an emotional way can derail us from the path of Almighty Allah.
Regulating emotions is a big deal with the life style of common people. It is not something that everyone naturally has, but it can be used with strategies and tactics, many of which use this emotionalism without any element of mindfulness.
In studies, emotionalism has shown that it can endanger your health and well-being, both physically and psychologically. It might decrease the strategies and tactics that can be used while dealing with anger and threat of non-believers.
How to deal with emotionalism, the Prophet Muhammad (SAW) is the best example which calls the entire Ummah that how to deal with the arrogance and irrational behavior by non-believers during the Dawah. During his time, the Meccans called him a poet, a magician, and a madman and labeled with different names. But perhaps the most invidious insult, designed against Prophet Muhammad (SAW) while visiting Taef. But He (SAW) used the power of no emotionalism to lead the establishment of Islam and spread His message in every nook and corner of the world. It is the way of no emotionalism that has used to overcome his foes without terror and enmity.
Islam as a whole is a religion of peace which strictly followed by Prophet Muhammad (SAW) and faced critiques by portraying the reality of the Islam. Surely his followers also followed the inherently merciful behavior against the non-believers but they too used the tool of no emotionalism necessarily to achieve global domination of Islam.
That is just one example of how this man, who Allah describes as a "mercy to mankind" (Quran 21:107) dealt with those who opposed him. It's just one of many examples in the life of a person who faced constant death threats, attempts on his life, abuse and humiliation at the hands of those threatened by his simple but profound message: there is no god but Allah and Prophet Muhammad( SAW) is His Messenger.
But the people of Taif were not the only ones who tasted of this mercy. He (SAW) would pray for his enemies all the time.
The Prophet Muhammad (SAW) made similar Duas (supplications) for his people on a regular basis: "O God! Guide my people, for they know not," he would pray, as he and his followers were tortured, humiliated, scorned and mocked.
That is why Michael Hart, who famously considered him the most influential man in history as He( SAW) proved to be the most merciful man to the whole creation.
The ripple effects of acting out in an emotional way usually provoke more anger around you, which leads to more difficulty. The consequences of using the emotionalism can be even more dangerous.
In the Dawah work, emotionalism can create lethal effects, including anxiety, depression, and stress-related illness, all the way to substance abuse and suicide and non-interaction of the individuals of the society.
There is huge range of tactics and strategies to deal with the arrogance and rudeness of the common people that includes the good understanding and regulation of challenging emotions like fear and anger, and cultivate wholesome emotions like kindness, forgiveness, and compassion and most importantly by following the instructions of Prophet Muhammad (SAW) in the propagation of Deen.
During our four month's Kharooj to our own area (Alaqi Khasipora), We have encountered number of persons with irrational and insolent behaviour but we dealt them without turbulence in our emotions. There was no way to convince them, other than to invite them to the Masjid during Dawat-Taleem-Istekbaliya ,Alhamdulillah they left the Masjid with deep satisfaction, build close connections to our colleagues, reduced doubts about the reality of Dawah. The Masjid is the place where angelic and enlightening atmosphere gradually change the ruthless behaviour of any person without any protestation or challenge that is why in Dawah work Dawat-Taleem-Istekbaliya is sole purpose to invite the people in the Masjid and interact with them in Eemanic way. Purposely this has lead fruitful results with any tiresome work.
Seeking forgiveness and forgiving others, compassion and kindness are challenging ways to deal with anger and arrogance of people. Dawah teaches us to be tolerant, reducing anger and jealousness the way prophet Muhammad (SAW) has done in his life.
Our Prophet was a mercy to all human beings, regardless of their religious, racial, cultural or ethnic background. We, as his followers, must live and spread this message today at a time when hatefulness and ugliness towards each other has become the norm.
