No More Hate Outside

November 29, 2021 |

Kashmiris over the years have been travelling to other parts of the country for studies, business, travel, etc as would other citizens love to be in valley as tourists. This interaction between people led to bonhomie, saw tolerance and harmony at its glorious best with both considering their destinations as the second home and simultaneoulsy reflecting upon the bonding and respect for each other. However, the spiral of violence in Kashmir had its impact elsewhere with hate campaign taking toll on the psyche of people thus leaving a trail of trifling state, helping none but extremists, radicals or ultras who reap benefits from the wedge created out of this mistrust or distrust. Again, Kashmiris working or living for life outside are at the receiving end as reports pouring from Jharkhand indicate the negative attitude of hooligans who thrashed poor vendors selling shawls or handicrafts out there. These assaults on gullible earners would prove detrimental and invoke wrath of hate back home here. Even though the Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren retweeted the link to the video which was shared in social media, there seems to be lackadaisical approach on part of police to stem the rot and stop the hate campaign against the people from valley. The retweeting by CM of a state where Kashmiris have been targeted appears to be casual approach on his part. There might have been innumerable reports of similar incidents unreported with simmering mindset of the victims unleashing new mode of hate relations between people of one country, one India. This kind of behaviour can’t be tolerated as the Prime Minister has been invoking slogans of Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas to take India by leaps and bounds of equitable development irrespective of caste, colour or creed. The forcible chanting of slogans won’t yield anything but victimization that would impact the growth of citizens into rational human beings and as a unit rather than a divided lot. The courage of 34-year old Kashmiri in unraveling the incident and standing for unity of the country needs encouragement and appreciation from Jharkhand police which at least could have detained culprits and sought to bridge the gap by making them understand the repercussion of such behavior on the mindset of the victim and his community back home. What Pakistan has to do with someone earning his livelihood outside? Pakistan is as distant from this Kashmiri vendor or trader as others from outside states and it (Pakistan) is not going to give him or her any work to sustain the families in valley or elsewhere. It is the hard toil which would help earn them enough to live life. Hate begets hate while love invokes love should be the call of citizens of India in taking the country to the zenith of success in 21st century and say no to such hate acts in future.
