Kashmir valley continues to face brunt of drug use, as all the efforts of controlling it turns futile, due to which it is badly impacting not only individuals, but whole society now, in the form of different issues, happening in day to day life.
Awareness programmes and other concerns regarding the control of drugs have somehow played an important role in controlling its increasing rate to some extent, but no concrete step is being taken to ensure complete control on use of drugs particularly by young men, which is highly impacting society as the persons who are addicted to it also belongs to society and have families too.
With the over addiction of drugs among individuals, their family suffers as they face a lot of inconveniences and irritations with the behaviour of those individuals, who always loss control after the consumption of these bullshit drugs.
Use of intoxicated drugs among the adults and students is going unabated and is mostly resulting in seperation of relationships, accidents, criminal activities like burglary, thereby creating mess and chaos among society.
In last few years, as per the reports, there has been an increase in widespread drug use and addiction in valley, which is one of the most negative elements in our society and should be taken into consideration with the motive to completely control it.
The first step to control this menace is to take stern action against drug suppliers who are playing main role in impacting our society by distributing drugs among the individuals in society, which is day by increasing and alarming.
Just few days back, I saw a lady crying immensely, with her family members, for getting his 6 year old child back, who was taken by his father, after divorce between the couple happened due to some arguments.
When i asked the brother of lady that how divorce happened in between them, it was very shocking to know that "Her husband used to beat her on daily basis as he is involved in drugs and is loosing normal behaviour all the time, resulting in seperation to the relationship after 07 years."
Moreover, drug abuse has a negative economic impact on our society, costing crores of rupees per year, includes costs related to drug crime, social welfare programs, medical costs related to drug abuse, and time lost from work.
The sad part is that alcohol consumption is going openly now without any ban from authorities. The use of alcohol and drugs can negatively affect all aspects of a person’s life, impact their family, friends and community.
One of the most significant areas of risk with the use of alcohol and drugs is the connection between alcohol, drugs and crime. To keep control on drugs is the need of hour and stern action should be taken against the persons who are involved in supplying these drugs to young men, thereby making their life heck.
My message to the youth of Kashmir is that, kindly refrain from drugs and join hands to stop this menace by motivating the people who have already got involved in it. Shunning drugs can remake their life and can save society from all the evils.
