Now Doon School accused of `loot’

Parents seek Div Com’s intervention

December 15, 2019 |

Srinagar: Although Government has already waived off transport fee from August to November, but Doon International School located at HMT Srinagar has forced parents to pay fee the same.
Pertinently, Directorate of School Education has already issued a show cause notice to Delhi Public School Sangam for charging bus fee from parents.
Parents allege that government turns into a wild lion when it has to face any local school but the same government behaves like a lamb when it has to confront any influential missionary school.
The local private schools were cowed down by the government when they demanded transport fee from the parents but no action is being initiated against some influential schools who have already forced parents to deposit transport fee.
Complaints have already surfaced against St Joseph School Baramulla, Delhi Public School Srinagar, Delhi Public School Sangam and now parents are accusing Doon International School of fleecing them. The irony according to parents is that these school care a fig for the rule of law and are not showing any regard for the orders and directions that have come from the authorities particularly from Divisional Commissioner Kashmir.
Parents whose kids study at Doon International School, HMT told Kashmir News Trust that school management forced them to deposit transport fee for the unrest period. “I paid transport fee in half for August and September and full for the months of October and November. School authorities forced all parents do pay the transport fee though government has issued a clear cut order prohibiting all private schools from taking any transport fee.”
They said if any student fails to pay the fee, he or she is asked to leave the classroom in presence of other students which is utter humiliation.
The parents said that some influential private schools are acting a state within state and they trample all the rules under their feet. They demanded action against Doon International School on the pattern of DPS Sangam. (KNT)
