One-way traffic resumes on Sgr-Jammu highway

Only one-way traffic has been resumed on the 300-km-long Srinagar-Jammu National Highway after remaining suspended for the past four days due to fresh snowfall and multiple landslides and shooting stones.
We allowed light passenger vehicles from Jammu to Srinagar this afternoon after the highway was thrown open for one-way though work is going on to clear landslides and shooting stones, Inspector General of Police (Traffic) Shafqat Watali said this evening.
He said passengers stranded at Jammu bus stand and other places were allowed to move towards Kashmir this afternoon. He said subject to weather and road condition, passenger vehicles will be allowed from Srinagar to Jammu tomorrow.
Only passenger vehicles would be allowed, he said adding trucks and other heavy vehicles will be allowed to ply once there is further improvement in the road condition.
