Over 400 hiding travel history, will face legal action: JK Police

Authorities said on Wednesday that more than 400 persons in Kashmir Valley have been reported to have concealed their travel history and legal action will be taken against them if they don’t report before authorities immediately.
“We have got information through phone calls and other sources that at least 410 persons, mostly students and pilgrims, have returned to the Valley without getting screened,” a senior police official said.
The official said these travellers have returned mostly from Saudi Arabia and Bangladesh but they have concealed their travel history at the time of entering the Valley, either through Srinagar airport or the national highway.
“With the help of people, we have collected their details. They are being warned again to produce themselves before the officials for screening and mandatory tests, if necessary,” the official said.
“In case they don’t report immediately, legal action will be taken against them,” the official said.
He said the UT administration is investigating the cases who are concealing travel history. “We have got reliable inputs from various sources that they have returned from abroad and have gone into hiding without any screening,” health officials said.
According to reports, several people returned from Saudi Arabia and without screening are staying at home. Sources added that a three couples, all the residents of Arampora Qamarwari after returning from Saudi Arabia went straight to home and have not been quarantined or screened.
