Physical teachers protest in Srinagar for regularization

October 17, 2020 | BK News Service

Physical Teachers recruited under Rehbar-Kheel Scheme from various sports departments staged a protest here in Press Enclave Srinagar.

The protesting teachers demanded the regularization of their services.
“We have been appointed in Feb 2019 by the Youth Service and Sports Department, and we are working on meagre salary of Rs 3000 per month which has made our survival very difficult.”
In 2017 Department of Youth Services and Sports advertised the posts and initially 3000 aspirants joined the department after due process of selection. The probation phase for these aspirants was set for first 7 years.
Saima one of the Physical Teachers said: “we are working in the Department from last 2 years and where ever we are deputed we do our work with dedication, but the salary we get is meager.”
The protesting teachers appealed to the LG Administration to regularize their services in the department and review the amendment clause which can curtail their probation period of 7 years.
In a first, the protesting Physical Teachers were accompanied by senior BJP leader Aditi Sharma.
Aditi Sharma said, “I have come here to support the genuine demands of these protesting Physical Teachers. They are all educated and they are on roads, and I will take up their issue with the LG Administration and Centre Government.”
She also said, “Whosoever appears in press colony with the genuine grievances, the BJP will be at fore front to support them.”
Sharma said she will raise the issue of daily wagers of Tourism Department with the Central Government. (KNT)
