Police have arrested 04 drug peddlers in Budgam & Sopore and recovered contraband substances from their possession.

A Police party of Police Station Khag at a checkpoint established at Hardu Suresh, Khag, intercepted three suspicious persons carrying a nylon bag who on seeing the Police party tried to flee from the spot but were apprehended tactfully. They have been identified as Rayees Ahmed Khan son of Mohd Shaban Khan, Irfan Ahmed Dar son of Ab Rashid Dar & Firdous Ahmad Bhat son of Gh Ahmad Bhat, all residents of Hardu Suresh Khag. During search, 03 Kgs of Poppy Straw & 55 grams of Charas were recovered from their possession.

Accordingly, a case vide FIR No. 66/2024 under relevant sections of law has been registered at PS Khag and investigation has been initiated.

Meanwhile in Sopore, a Police party of Police Post Warpora headed by IC PP Warpora under the supervision of SDPO Sopore, at a checkpoint established at Janwara Crossing, apprehended a suspected person identified as Sageer Ahmad Mir son of Abdul Rashid Mir resident of Janwara Sopore. During search, 113 grams of Charas was recovered from his possession.

Accordingly, a case under relevant sections of law has been registered at Police Station Sopore & investigation has been initiated.

All the drug peddlers have been arrested and shifted to respective police stations and investigations have been initiated.
