Police in Srinagar have arrested a bootlegger and recovered 15 bottles of illicit liquor from his possession.

Officers at a checkpoint established near Zero Bridge Foreshore Road intercepted one auto bearing registration No JK01AC-9479 driven by Younis Ahmad Bhat resident of Sheikh Mohalla Habbak Srinagar. During search, officers were able to recover 15 bottles of illicit liquor from his possession. He has been arrested and shifted to Police Station Nigeen where he remains in custody. Vehicle used in the commission of the crime has also been seized.
Accordingly, case FIR No. 176/2020 under relevant sections of law has been registered in Police Station Nigeen and further investigation is in progress.
Locals have lauded the efforts of Police and appealed to continue such drives in future as well. Police has resolved to act tough against inimical elements.
Community members are requested to come forward with any information regarding anti social elements in their neighbourhood. Persons found indulging in anti social activities will be dealt as per law.
