Continuing its efforts to eradicate the menace of drugs from the society, Police arrested a drug peddler in Shopian and recovered contraband substance from his possession.

A police party of Police Station Imamsahib under the supervision of SSP Shopian Ms Tanushree-IPS at a checkpoint established at Hillow crossing, intercepted a suspicious person who on seeing the police party tried to flee from the spot but was apprehended tactfully. During search, 265 grams of contraband Brown sugar like substance was recovered from his possession. He has been identified as Javaid Ahmad Bhat son of Ghulam Mohammad Bhat resident of Arwani Bijbehara. He was shifted to Police Station where he remains in custody.

Accordingly, a case FIR No. 19/2024 under sections of law was registered in Police Station Imamsahib and investigation was taken up.

Community members are requested to come forward with any information regarding drug peddlers in their neighbourhood. Persons found indulging in drug peddling will be dealt as per law. Our consistent actions against drug peddlers should reassure the community members that we are making efforts to keep our society free from the scourge of drug menace.
