Continuing its efforts to eradicate the menace of drugs from the society, police have arrested a drug peddler in Srinagar and recovered contraband substance from his possession.
On a specific information, ANTF Kashmir (a specialized unit of J&K Police to check the rising menace of narcotic drugs) has arrested drug peddler namely Mohammad Shafi resident of Shopian from District Srinagar. During search, Heroin worth lacs was recovered from his possession. He has been shifted to police station where he remains in custody.
Accordingly, a case vide FIR No. 03/2022 under relevant sections of law has been registered at Police Station ANTF Kashmir and further investigation has been initiated. Preliminary investigation reveals that the accused person was going to sell the contraband in and around District Srinagar.
Community members are requested to come forward with any information regarding drug peddlers in their neighbourhood. Persons found indulging in drug peddling will be dealt as per law. Our consistent actions against drug peddlers should reassure the community members that we are making efforts to keep our society free from the scourge of drug menace.
