Police has detained about 67 persons for questioning in connection with the killing of a government employee in Shahdara area of Rajouri district of Jammu and Kashmir.
A police official said a case under relevant sections of law has been registered in PS Thanamandi and investigation is going on in connection with the killing of Mohammad Razaq, a government employee, in Kunda Shahdara area of Rajouri.
Razaq, a government employee, was shot dead by terrorists in his house in Shahdara area of Rajouri a few days back. Razaq’s brother is a jawan in the Army's Territorial Army.
“A breakthrough has been achieved in initial investigation with respect to identification of one of the attackers, a foreign terrorist with code name ‘Abu Hamza’, has already been shared alongwith photograph of identification,” the police official said.
“Till now, 67 suspected persons have been detained for questioning after the terror incident,” he said.
The police official said investigation is going on and detentions, questioning is a routine process during investigation of any case.
He said more people may be picked up for questioning.
Police has announced a reward of Rs 10 lakh for any information leading to the identification and capture of the terrorist involved in the killing of Razak.
The reward has been announced for the terrorist Abu Hamza for his involvement in terror activities, including the killing of Mohammad Razaq in Kunda village of Rajouri on Monday, a police official said.
“Whosoever provides any information leading to the arrest of the accused shall be rewarded. The identity of the information will be kept secret,” the police announced.
According to the police, the accused is involved in numerous terrorist activities including terrorist attacks, radicalization, recruitment, terrorist financing, etc.
Razaq’s father Muhammad Akber was also a victim of militancy as his throat was slit by terrorists in the year 2003.
Razaq was appointed in the Social Welfare Department on compassionate grounds after his father’s killing and was working as a junior assistant in the department.
Razaq’s eldest son is 15 years old.
