Police test drone in Lal Chowk

As violence escalates in Kashmir Valley, the J&K Police Thursday tested an unmanned drone in Srinagar’s deserted Lal Chowk.
According to reports, a middle-rung police officer tested the drone in Lal Chowk near Ghanta Ghar. Earlier, the officer demonstrated the use of the unmanned drone to a team of police officials in the city centre.
“It was an unbreakable drone,” sources said, “we were checking its utility.” However, it was not immediately known what will the drone used for.
Following mass outpouring during Burhan’s funeral, authorities clamped down on phone network in South Kashmir while mobile internet was taken off across J&K.
Curfew was imposed since Sunday to maintain “law and order”.Kashmir is witnessing complete shutdown against the civilian killings.
Last time, forces used unmanned drones during an encounter was when militants attacked forces at Sempora Pampore. After a long battle which continued for over 48 hours, the army used the drones to trace the movement of militants inside the EDI building who were later killed.
