The recovery of at least two wireless communication devices and an unspecified number of batteries and hand held torches along the Line of Control has raised fears of fresh infiltration in Jammu and Kashmir.
Officials said a cordon and search operation was launched in Poonch along the Line of Control (LoC) in Mankote area of Mendhar sub-division of Poonch district.
The operation was launched on specific information received by them. During the cordon and search operation, at least two communication wireless devices, batteries used to operate these devices and hand held torches used for walking during night hours were recovered.
A senior official said they have taken up investigation into the matter and an FIR has been registered in Mendhar police station.
“These gadgets are used by terrorists while crossing over the Line of Control. Searches have been launched in the area to check for any infiltrators,” sources said.
According to official data, there have been six infiltration attempts along the Line of Control this year, four of them after New Delhi and Islamabad took new vows to uphold the 2003 ceasefire agreement.
