Healthcare is one of the core indicators of developing & developed economies. A vibrant & modern healthcare apparatus is of utmost importance in any society. The mushrooming of private healthcare machinery has proved a catalyst in addition to public healthcare in the UT of J&K. Hundreds of private healthcare institutions are operating in our UT. These private institutions are providing multi-level diagnostic & surgical facilities .But these private healthcare institutions should not risk with human lives by breaching official protocols & rules. They should not operate beyond their scope & jurisdiction.

Firstly, there are hundreds of private hospitals & nursing homes operating in our UT. These healthcare institutions are providing specialist facilities of diagnosis & surgeries. Infact people have heaved a sigh of relief since birth of private healthcare institutions .Now anyone can go & consult his choice of doctor .The problem with government hospitals is huge influx of patients & inordinate delay in various procedures. Patients often develop complications due to long delays in their treatment & surgeries .Private healthcare institutions have provided a vibrant & effective alternative to plug those delays. We can easily approach any private hospital & book appointment for any procedure without any delay. Maternity care is one of the blessings of private healthcare institutions. Our sisters & daughters suffer in government maternity hospitals due to huge rush & lack of hygiene. Now maternity care has become so comfortable & hygienic due to private healthcare institutions.
Secondly, private healthcare institutions should not violate & breach official protocols & rules. They need to operate with defined official parameters. They should not offer those facilities & procedures, which are beyond their scope. Because their available resources & machinery are not sufficient for some complicated surgical procedures. That is where they need to exhibit due diligence & care. They should properly diagnose & guide the patients by referring emergencies to tertiary care institutions. Some sections of our doctors working in private hospitals of habitual of misleading patients in most shameful manner. They try to treat every patient within or beyond their scope .I have a very brilliant doctor in my neighboring village .He is having great reputation in his field.But the problem with him is that he wants to treat every patient. He offers treatment to patients beyond his scope of specialization. Doctors should humbly refer patients to each other ,if they don't pertain to their field of specialization. Skies will not fall on earth ,if we will shun our egoistic attitude for the sake of healthcare. But majority of doctors understand their scope of specialization .If any patient dies due to intentional mistake ,then it is a murder.
Lastly, I appeal the private healthcare institutions to stick to rate lists fixed by relevant authorities .They should not charge beyond stipulated rates by cheating public faith & trust. At the same time ,they should offer relaxations in surgical procedures to economically weaker sections. Discount rates should be given to economically disempowered sections of society .That will be their great contributions towards nation-building.
